Englewood – The president and chief operating officer of the DISH Network’s parent company is resigning, effective immediately after about eight months on the job, the company said today.

EchoStar Communications Corp. announced the departure of Michael A. Neuman, a former executive of Bell Canada, in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

No reason was given.

The filing indicated Vice Chairman Carl E. Vogel and Chief Technical Officer Michael T. Dugan would take over Neuman’s duties.

Neuman formerly served as president of Bell Mobility, a Bell Canada Enterprises unit, and as president of Bell ExpressVu Satellite Television, WorldLinx Telecommunications and Cerberus Canada.

Neuman joined EchoStar last June, succeeding Michael Dugan, who retired for personal reasons in 2004.

EchoStar shares fell 50 cents, or 1.8 percent, to close at $27.71 today on the Nasdaq Stock Market.
