Downtown Aquarium unveiled three new, endangered tigers today.

The aquarium is now home to brothers Marah, Besar, and Jalan; Sumatran tigers assigned to the aquarium by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association as part of a Species Survival Plan.

Two other Sumatran tigers, Bali and Java were original inhabitants of the aquarium, formerly known as Ocean Journey.

Java will be moving to Pt. Defiance Zoo and Aquarium in Tacoma, Washington, later this week.

The new tigers used to live at the Smithsonian’s National Zoo in Washington, D.C. They’ve been in quarantine for the past 30 days.

Sumatran tigers are found only on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. Fewer than 500 of them are believed to exist in the wild. Right now, 210 live in zoos and aquariums around the world.
