Two Conifer wrestlers were removed from the Class 4A bracketing for today’s start of the 71st Colorado tournament after being suspended from school, according to Colorado High School Activities Association assistant commissioner Paul Angelico.

Nate Fisk, a 112-pounder with a 30-7 record, and heavyweight Blaine Sumner (33-1) were disciplined after an alleged incident the past weekend in a hotel room in Grand Junction, where the Lobos were competing in a regional tournament.

Conifer athletic director Michelle Jeffords and coach Dion Deaguero refused to answer questions Wednesday.

An attempt to get a restraining order to reinstate both Conifer wrestlers will be made, Angelico said, but it will have to occur before weigh-ins at 1 p.m.

Meanwhile, Aaron Lujan of Delta (112) and Mike Zerfoss of Glenwood Springs (heavyweight) were added to the 4A field as both brackets were re-seeded.
