Anti-fur protesters threw flour on designer Julien Macdonald and heiress Paris Hilton after his show at London Fashion Week.

British reports say members of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals attacked the duo after Hilton made a surprise runway appearance at his show, which featured several models dressed in fur. Macdonald was covered in flour as he posed for pictures with Hilton, who escaped with a sprinkling on her shoulder.

“Paris was lucky,” a source told the London Evening-Standard. “She couldn’t stop laughing.”

Madonna may have still have a great figure at 47, but only days after her showstopping performance at the Grammy Awards the singer had hernia surgery at Cedars Sinai hospital in Los Angeles, the New York Post reported. He wasn’t jumping on a couch, but Tom Cruise, through his publicist, emphatically denied rumors he and his pregnant fiancée Katie Holmes were splitting up.

In a statement, publicist Arnold Robinson denied a report by Life & Style magazine. “It should be known that the story is 100 percent false,” he said. “Mr. Cruise and Ms. Holmes are still engaged and are moving forward with their wedding plans, as well as planning for the arrival of their child. Despite the malicious fallacies put forth by Life & Style magazine, the couple is looking forward to a long and happy life together as a family.”

Shannen Doherty was bruised and cut on her thigh in a car crash in Malibu, Calif., that sent another motorist to the hospital, authorities and Doherty’s publicist said Tuesday. The actress, 34, was driving a Range Rover and making a left turn onto the Pacific Coast Highway on Monday when she collided with another vehicle, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson said.

Us Weekly claims it was “Dukes of Hazzard” co-star and Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine. Star magazine writes Jude Law was cavorting with the soon-to-be ex-wife of Nick Lachey.

Simpson’s rep denied both stories.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta, announcing an initiative to improve child car-seat safety in Philadelphia, chided Britney Spears for driving with her baby on her lap.

Minneta said, “While Ms. Spears has acknowledged her mistake, her actions still send the wrong message to millions of her fans. No matter who you are, there’s absolutely no excuse for this display – not instinct, not fear, not even reckless paparazzi.”

So, who’s going to have a talk with Vice President Dick Cheney on gun safety?
