A 43 year-old Colorado man died in Breckenridge today following what officials termed “a ski incident” on the intermediate Sawmill trail.
Breckenridge Ski Resort officials said the ski patrol was notified of the incident at approximately 11:46 a.m. and responded immediately. The victim, whose name was not released pending notification of family, was transported to Breckenridge Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident, said spokeswoman Nicky DeFord. Additional details on the death are expected to be released by the Summit County Coroner later today, she said.
DeFord said today’s death was the first at the resort this season. Breckenridge reported two on-mountain deaths for the 2005-06 season, she said.
