sketch food and wine

250 Steele St., Denver

Two of Denver’s more creative guys, restaurateur and club owner Jesse Morreale and super chef Sean Yontz, have teamed up to create a promising new restaurant, sketch, in Cherry Creek. Located in what used to be Le Delice, the space has been transformed into a hip place comfortable enough for the well-heeled crowd. They serve a full menu until midnight and drinks until 2, which could skew the crowd a little young – a plus for this sometimes stiff neighborhood.

International Skibike Festival

Durango Mountain Resort

23 miles north of Durango on U.S. 50

Skibikes are still catching on in the mountains of Colorado, but one thing pushing them along is this annual event at Purgatory. The fest runs Feb. 22-26 and includes free demonstrations, races and lessons to get you acclimated to the sport. You’ll need certification (which they’ll help you with) and a lift ticket ($59 for adults) if you want to join the bikers. Four-time world champ Jacek Stalmach may show.

A BUDDING ARTIST

Sunflower Art Studio & Gallery

Few 4-year-olds manage to get their artwork into galleries, but Estes Park’s Sean Johnson isn’t your average tot. Illness kept him in the house, so he made the most of it by making magic. The result: his multi-colored ladybugs on sale at the Sunflower gallery. They’re more kid craft than art, and they get a little parental help, but they’re darn cute for 75 cents. Sean is putting his profits away for future higher ed opportunities.
