Northern Colorado hired two assistant football coaches Thursday. Brian Natkin will coach the offensive line, Craig Robinson the defensive line. Natkin coached the previous three seasons at his alma mater, Texas-El Paso – the last two seasons tutoring tight ends. Robinson was an administrative assistant the past two seasons at Idaho.
CSU junior wins MWC pentathlon title
Katie Lloyd became the first Colorado State athlete to win the Mountain West Conference pentathlon when she totaled 3,898 points over the five events on the first day of the MWC indoor track and field championships at the Albuquerque Convention Center.
Lloyd, a junior who won the MWC outdoor heptathlon last year, broke the CSU record in the pentathlon by surpassing Nancy Malloy’s 3,855 points in 1979.
UNC defeats Air Force in wrestling
Northern Colorado’s Shawn Hart pinned Air Force’s Stephen Crozier at 174 pounds to give the Bears (7-9) a 22-18 victory in a dual meet in Greeley. Utah Valley State (9-9) pinned a 24-20 loss on Air Force (2-8) in the first dual and defeated UNC 32-10 in the final dual of the day.
