Supris
Its roots are Belgian, but the new S upris from BridgePort Brewing in Portland, Ore., is all-American.
BridgePort, Oregon’s oldest craft brewery (it opened in 1986), describes its new brew as “big, beautiful and blonde.”
Based on a Belgian-style ale, S upris is bottle conditioned, giving it heightened malt and hop flavors. Most noticeable is the explosion of effervescence on first taste, followed by a flavor balance that is the result of hops from Germany and the Czech Republic and Belgian yeast.
The ever-growing BridgePort reopened its pub in Portland’s historic Pearl District last Thursday after a 14-month renovation.
With spring just around the corner, S upris would be a good way to welcome back longer, warmer days. It’s available in six-packs ($5.99) and in kegs in nine Western states.
