Edgewater police reported no new information today about their investigation of a 3-week-old puppy that was badly injured and died on Saturday. Desirae McGee, 19, told police she saw two teens tossing the puppy back and forth. Police say McGee now is one of two “persons of interest” in the case.
Eight animals removed from McGee’s residence at West 20th Avenue and Otis Street were taken to the Table Mountain Animal Center in Golden while the case is investigated. The animals are three kittens about six weeks old, two adult dogs and a litter of three puppies. Center officials said today that the three puppies are siblings of the puppy that died and the two adult dogs are their parents.
“All of the animals are in good health,” said center manager Angela Davis. The puppies and their mother have been placed in foster care to ensure “they stay healthy and are in a stress-free environment. The future of these animals depends on the outcome of the case.”
Donations to assist the animals and others at the Table Mountain Animal Center may be sent to the center, 4105 Youngfield Service Road, Golden, CO. 80401, or at www.tablemountanimals.org.
