Louisville police are investigating the death of an infant who died after suffering numerous fractures and head trauma.
Jason Midyette, who would have turned 11 weeks old on Saturday, died after clinging to life for a week.
Doctors at the Foothills branch of Boulder Community Hospital alerted police of injuries to the infant after his parents, Molly Midyette, 27, and Alex Midyette, 26, brought him there on Feb. 24.
Jason’s injuries were so severe that he was taken by ambulance to The Children’s Hospital in Denver, where he was placed on life support. He died Friday.
Doctors at Children’s Hospital told police that Jason’s injuries “were not the result of any pre-existing medical condition or unusual medical pathology, but were instead caused by non-accidental trauma,” Louisville police said.
The Boulder County Coroner’s Office determined the death was caused by a closed head injury.
Louisville police executed a search warrant at the Mid yettes’ home in Louisville, seizing computers, medical records, personal papers and marijuana paraphernalia. Police also have seized additional medical records at Boulder Community Hospital and from the Mid yettes’ family physician.
Paul McCormick, a defense lawyer representing the family, could not be reached for comment.
