Defenseman Cook returns to CHL’s Eagles

The Colorado Eagles placed defenseman Matt Desrosiers and center Sean Robertson on the injured list Thursday, and re-signed defenseman Jesse Cook, who helped the Eagles win the Central Hockey League title last season.

Cook will be in uniform for tonight’s game against Fort Worth. The Eagles also welcomed back last season’s playoff MVP, center Craig Hartsburg, who has been out since Dec. 10 with a sports hernia. The Eagles need a total of six points in their last eight games to clinch a third straight Northwest Division title.

Regis’ Diana Lopez named all-North Central

Regis University junior guard Diana Lopez was named to the all-North Central Region team. Lopez received her second straight Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference player of the year award last week.

Caldwell elected president of USTA region

Dale Caldwell, the oldest son of Grace and Rev. Gilbert Caldwell, was elected president of the Eastern Section of the United States Tennis Association. The son of Denver residents is the second African-American section president in the USTA.

His parents moved to Denver in 1997. Rev. Caldwell is retired from Park Hill United Methodist Church. Grace Caldwell was a fifth-grade teacher at Stedman Elementary in Park Hill before retiring.
