On the auction block …

Some people were upset with the pricey Daunte Culpepper item Scott Reisenbigler listed Thursday on eBay. “I’ve gotten e-mails from people saying they want to wring my neck,” said Reisenbigler, a limousine driver from Burnsville, Minn. Under the listing “Daunte Culpepper For Sale,” Reisenbigler listed the Minnesota Vikings quarterback on eBay with a starting bid of $1 million and a “Buy It Now” price of $8 million. Reisenbigler actually received a bid within hours of posting the item. “The guy’s name was ‘dchassmallhands.’ He bid the $1 million. I took it off because I didn’t want eBay to charge me any fees,” Reisenbigler said. “I think they charge 1 percent of whatever the sale was. That’s $10,000. I don’t want to be made an example of.” Reisenbigler said he decided to post the item after hearing about Culpepper’s request to be released or traded. “I’m a fan of his, but I don’t like how he’s acting,” he said. “It’s a way to poke some fun at him.”

Reality check

Eric Gagne was there in spirit if not in body Wednesday when Canada surprised the United States 8-6 in the World Baseball Classic. “That was unbelievable,” said the Los Angeles Dodgers closer, who was born in Montreal. “You saw how they jumped around and how happy they were about winning. … They love baseball and they’re really proud of their country. We don’t have the best talent, but we’ve got big hearts.” Gagne had hoped to play in the inaugural international event but opted out because he is still on the mend after elbow surgery last June. “As much as I love Canada, I’ve got to get healthy for the Dodgers because they sign the checks. You’ve got to be loyal to that.”

No passing zone

“The old record was held by Kobe Bryant, who dribbled 25 hours before finally passing the ball to a teammate.”
