Actor’s ranch for sale
Actor Rick Schroder is asking $29 million for his nearly 15,000-acre ranch in Glade Park. Mesa Mood Ranch, listed by Ranch Marketing Associates, sits atop Pinyon Mesa about 25 miles from Grand Junction. Schroder has owned the ranch for 15 years and has operated it to maximize wildlife habitat for elk, mule deer and other wildlife. The ranch participates in the Ranching for Wildlife Program provided by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and is supervised by professional wildlife biologist and ranch manager Brent Thurgood.
Re/Max agents, franchises leap
The number of real estate agents affiliated with Denver-based Re/Max International grew 13.5 percent in 2005, to 114,417. Franchise sales of 1,078 also topped the 2004 record of 1,032. The company expanded into 10 new countries, bringing the total to 62. Turkey had the largest number of new franchise sales at 55, with California and Hawaii second at 50, and Spain third at 45.
Website has referrals for home services
A Denver real estate agent has launched a website geared toward helping other agents refer their clients to service providers such as handymen, roofers and interior designers. Kit Cowperthwaite launched OneStopWizard.com about six months ago. The site offers comprehensive reliable vendor information for home and business owners. Its more than 150 vendors have been screened through the Better Business Bureau, outside references and trade associations. Early partners on the site include Countrywide Lending, Home & Land of Greater Denver and Land Title.
30-year mortgage rates jump to 2 1/2-year record
National rates on 30-year mortgages jumped to the highest level in 2 1/2 years last week, driven by inflation worries. Mortgage giant Freddie Mac reported Thursday that rates on 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages averaged 6.37 percent this week, according to its weekly survey, up sharply from a nationwide average of 6.24 percent the week before. Below are average mortgage rates in Denver, Adams and Arapahoe counties as of Thursday and the previous 52 weeks. The one-year Treasury bill average reported by the Federal Reserve Bank is 4.74 percent. The Cost of Funds Index for January from the Federal Home Loan Bank (11th District) was 3.347 percent.
