TV on DVD In the 21st century, TV viewers are less and less likely to watch TV on the networks’ schedule – especially reruns. But we love our old shows, which is why more than 500 have been repackaged into DVDs with “new” seasons of our favorite shows rolling out every week. Notable releases coming this month and next: “The Cosby Show,” second season (including the classic Stevie Wonder episode); “I Dream of Jeannie,” first season (in black and white or color); and “Dawson’s Creek,” sixth season (six seasons?). Still waiting, though, for more of Boulder’s most famous couple, “Mork & Mindy,” as only the first season is available.

TCMdb.com Turner Classic Movies’ online database launched last month with information on more than 100,000 movies: film synopses, reviews, box office reports, film credits. It also includes more than 15,000 biographical sketches. Of course, the Internet Movie Database (imdb.com) already does most of this, and does it much better, but TCMdb wins points for its collection of old movie clips, trailers and commentary. The old black-and-white clips look great if you’ve got a broadband connection. And the site is interactive: If you’re an old-movie buff yourself, TCM urges you to contribute your own information to the site.

“Colorado Starwatch: The Essential Guide to Our Night Sky” Forget the small screen. And the big screen. The best show in the universe is, well, the universe. Tuesday night is a full moon, so go outside and look up. And while you’re at it, author Mike Lynch tells you to “make the stars your old friends.” Look for more help from Lynch on March 27, when “Colorado Starwatch” arrives in bookstores. It’s a backyard guide to the night sky that’s designed for beginning and intermediate stargazers, including handy monthly star maps for Colorado skies and diagrams of the major constellations, plus chapters on the moon, solar and lunar eclipses and other heavenly goodies.
