Calgary – The Roughnecks’ Lewis Ratcliff scored at about eight minutes into overtime to give Calgary a 15-14 victory over Colorado in a National Lacrosse League game Saturday, ending the Mammoth’s three-game winning streak.
Ratcliff’s goal, on an assist from Kevin Dostie at the 8:11 mark of the overtime, was his second of the game. He also put Calgary up 1-0.
Jason Wulder scored four goals to lead the Roughnecks (5-4), who moved into a tie with Colorado (5-4) for the West Division lead.
Arizona (5-4) is also tied at the top after a 12-10 loss to Portland on Saturday.
The Mammoth’s Gavin Prout led all scorers with three goals and six assists. Dan Carey added six assists for Colorado, and Brian Langtry had a goal and three assists.
Chris Gill’s goal for Colorado at 14:54 of the fourth period, on assists from Prout and Langtry, tied the game at 14-14.
Gee Nash made 50 saves for Colorado, including four in overtime. Curtis Palidwor and Andrew Leyshon split time in goal for Calgary, but it was Leyshon’s four saves in the extra period that proved crucial.
Colorado’s 7-4 lead at halftime was erased with Calgary’s 6-3 advantage in the third period. Kaleb Toth scored two consecutive goals in that stretch to bring Calgary within a goal at 9-8.
Colorado has a quick turnaround, playing today at home against Portland at 7 p.m.
