Boston – It took a third member of the Cincinnati Bearcats Alumni Association’s Denver chapter to draw former coach Bob Huggins to a Nuggets game.
Huggins had hoped to take in a game with Kenyon Martin and DerMarr Johnson early this season. He finally reunited with his players Sunday in Boston, with newly acquired Ruben Patterson also on board.
Huggins has had plenty of free time since his surprise forced resignation from Cincinnati last August. He posted a 399-127 mark with the Bearcats but drew controversy both for his team’s academic record and a DUI arrest in June.
Asked what he was up to these days, Huggins, who also will travel with Denver for games at New York and Indiana, replied: “You’re looking at it. Relaxing. I’m having a good time.”
He added that in the “right situation” he would like to return to coaching next season. Patterson talked like his old coach would have a new employer soon.
“He said he was,” Patterson said. “He told me a couple of teams, but I can’t tell you guys.”

Nuggets center Marcus Camby (strained Achilles tendon) said postgame he felt sore but might play tonight at New York. Martin (knee tendinitis) would not predict, though he suggested that playing only 25 minutes Sunday could help him face the Knicks. Those two played together Sunday for the 11th time in 37 games. … The Nuggets decided Sunday to give guard Howard Eisley a second 10-day contract, which begins today. … Referee Luis Grillo left Sunday’s game in the third quarter because of a knee injury, leaving two officials for the rest of the night.
