Highlights from the state legislature Thursday:

The House approved 54-11 and sent to the Senate a plan (House Bill 1201) that would increase the amount of gambling funds that are allocated to the Colorado travel and tourism promotion fund.

Some lawmakers objected to a portion of the plan allocating funds for arts programs, but Rep. Tom Plant, D-Nederland, said tourists who come to Colorado for the arts spend more than other tourists.

The House Finance Committee advanced a measure (House Bill 1347) setting up a task force to help local law enforcement fight identity theft. It’s one of several bills dealing with the issue, which has become a major problem statewide.
