Who: Tim Cruser of Parker, with Cecilia Baldwin on left, Zella, Cecilia’s assistance dog, and Manuel Leunda and Alexis Padovani of Buenos Aires on right
Where: FLENI Rehabilitation and Education Therapy Center in Escobar, 50 kilometers from Buenos Aires
Best meal: Excellent traditional food at several establishments in Puerto Madero, the restaurant row you cannot miss. Famous for their meat, they will make your mouth water in anticipation of lomo, Argentina’s filet mignon. All nice restaurants make their own pasta fresh with a vast choice of sauces available. And the dessert – dulce de leche on anything!
Best deal: anything from the travel cost itself to native artwork. And Argentinean wine is on the rise regarding world quality, because the dollar has been at the 3-to-1 mark now for several years.
Best time to go: Seasons are the opposite of ours, so if you want world-class skiing, go in July. If you want pleasant sunny days, go in January, though the heat and humidity can be bad December through March.
Best travel tip: From Denver, for the shortest airtime, route your flight through Dallas. Buenos Aires is the fourth-largest city in the world, so plan well, as there are so many possibilities for spending your time there or in other parts of the country. Also be aware that the driving is crazy, with no speed limits.
