Imperial Stout

Imperial Stout is as grand as the name would indicate. Originally made in England for shipment to Czarist Russia, Imperial Stout is big and bold, well-built enough to have withstood the journey. Described by the brewery as a single-batch, limited edition (only 1,000 cases were produced), Odell’s Imperial Stout lives up to its name. It pours almost pitch-black with a hefty off-white head and an aroma of chocolate malt and a hint of alcohol, then follows through with a velvety mouthfeel. The 7.1 percent alcohol (by volume) is on the lighter end for the style, which can range up to 10 percent or more. Odell brews, including medal-winning Easy Street Wheat and 5 Barrel Pale Ale, are sold in seven states, but Imperial Stout will be available (about $10 for a six-pack) only in Colorado, Wyoming and New Mexico.
