A man ran over another man twice at Aurora City Park early Thursday, crushing him to death, after an altercation at a bar, police said.
The victim, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at 3:28 a.m., said Aurora police spokesman Marcus Dudley.
Police believe the suspect had argued with the victim at the Si Amigo bar and restaurant in the 9500 block of East Colfax Avenue, Dudley said.
At 1:35 a.m., the victim and another man had to be separated from each other when the argument escalated, Dudley said.
Minutes later, the victim was walking with a male friend through the park at East 17th Avenue and Dayton Street when a van drove onto the grass and struck the man.
The friend was not hit by the van, Dudley said. Police were interviewing the friend. Police were originally called to the park on a hit-and-run call, Dudley said.
Police are looking for a silver or primer gray mid-’80s to mid-’90s Chevy Astro or GMC Safari van. The vehicle should have front-end damage, police said. Police have not identified a suspect, he said.
