If there was any doubt about his intentions after driving his van over a man at City Park, a homicide suspect backed up and ran over the victim a second time, crushing him to death.
The victim was pronounced dead at 3:28 a.m. this morning, said Marcus Dudley, Aurora police spokesman. Authorities have not yet identified the victim, he said.
Homicide detectives believe that the suspect had earlier argued with the victim inside the Si Amigo bar and restaurant on the 9500 block of E. Colfax Avenue, Dudley said.
At 1:35 a.m., the victim got into an argument with another man and the two combatants had to be separated from each other, Dudley said.
Minutes later, the victim was walking with a male friend through the park at E. 17th Avenue and Dayton Street when the suspect drove a van onto the grass and struck the victim.
The friend was not hit by the van, Dudley said. Police were interviewing the friend for details that could solve the murder investigation.
The van is described as white or silver, Dudley said.
Police have not identified a suspect in the case, he said.
