ARAPAHOE COUNTY

Retail center to replace soccer site

Some members of the Colorado Storm Soccer Association will play at the association’s other complexes and at satellite locations next season when the site of the Banbury soccer complex at South Parker and East Arapahoe roads will be cleared to make way for a retail center being developed by Greenwood Village-based Alberta Development Partners.

The $150 million development, called Cornerstar, will encompass 158 acres. It will include a gourmet market, big-box retailers and a mix of smaller shops and restaurants.

The club will continue to play at the site until Aug. 31. After that, games will be scheduled at the club’s three remaining soccer complexes and at local schools, said general manager Jim Morrison.

The club is exploring options for constructing a new complex in the future, he said.
