Leading scorer Gavin Prout might not be eligible to play in the Mammoth’s first-round playoff game against Calgary on Saturday at the Pepsi Center.
Prout might have to serve a one-game suspension for leaving the bench during an altercation. He received a 10-minute penalty for that infraction with three minutes, 49 seconds remaining in Saturday’s 17-7 victory at Calgary.
“We have to clarify,” Mammoth general manager Steve Govett said. “I’m not going to panic.”
As team captain, Prout is allowed to confer with officials throughout a game, and does, particularly after penalties. In this case, Govett contends that Prout sought a conference.
“My interpretation is that they were two separate incidents and Gavin went out on a legal line change,” said Govett, who plans to talk to National Lacrosse League vice president Brian Lemon today.
