Breezy Porticos

As the low-key successors to Denver’s defunct Elephant Six scene, Breezy Porticos are oddly proud of their “wimp rock” label. See them Friday when they play with The Eames Era at Bender’s Tavern, 314 E. 13th Ave. 9 p.m. $8.

Melissa Ivey Band

This busy singer-songwriter dropped a full-length CD in January and is already releasing her new EP, albeit one song at a time. She’ll start with the track “Lovers and Stars,” on Saturday with Captain Groove and his Funky People, and Joe Rohan, at the D-Note, 7519 Grandview Ave. in Arvada, 8:30 p.m. $10, all ages.

Jeffrey Harrison & The Heretics

Crisp, acoustic-tinged rock never seems to go out of fashion, as evidenced by this earnest Tom Petty acolyte. He’ll release his self-titled five-song CD on Sunday with Kings for a Day at the Walnut Room, 3131 Walnut St. 7:30 p.m. $5.

“Ramble”/The Barrys

Local writer Eric Peterson will read from his new book, “Ramble: A Field Guide to the U.S.,” a hybrid travel guide/travelogue, then play a set with his band The Barrys. Also with DJ LayneBird, Thursday at Three Kings Tavern, 60 S. Broadway. 8 p.m. Free.
