Shall we dance?
National Dance Week Gala
7 p.m. Friday, South High School, 1700 E. Louisiana Ave., Denver. $2 students; $5 adults.
Arts for All kicked off National Dance Week last week with an official proclamation and a leaping contest in front of Denver’s city hall and will wind up the local celebration Friday night with gala dance showcase of flamenco, hip-hop, ballet, jazz, tap and modern performers Dancers from all over the metro area. The show is a cheap and easy way to get a taste of an art form organizer Gwen Bowen – Denver’s grande dame of dance – says is a great equalizer. “When you put on a leotard, no one knows if you’ve got 50 cents or $5,000,” she says.
