Getting your player ready...

Matt Holliday’s impatience sticks out in Todd Helton’s absence. Hitting in Helton’s customary third spot, Holliday has remained streaky, vulnerable to wild ebbs and flows.

Holliday has two home runs and seven home runs as the No. 3 hitter. But he also is hitting just .222 with one walk, his only walk this season.

“Matt needs to get into better hitting counts,” general manager Dan O’Dowd said. “I think he will as the season progresses.”

FROM THE RX FILES: While reliever Mike DeJean is close to going out on a rehab assignment, Sun-Woo Kim threw 60 pitches in a rehab start and will make at least two more before any decision on his return is tabled. There is no consideration of making him a full-time reliever. Ryan Shealy could report to Triple-A Colorado Springs after three more games in extended spring training.

HE’S GONE: The Chicago White Sox claimed reliever Eduardo Sierra, acquired in the Shawn Chacon trade along with Ramon Ramirez, off waivers.
