McAllen, Texas – Daniel McKenna, a former guitarist for the band Toby Beau, has been found dead in his home, apparently a victim of suicide, police said.
McKenna, 54, died Wednesday. He was one of the original members of the band, which had a hit in 1978 with “My Angel Baby.”
“He was a phenomenal guitarist,” said Art Mendoza, a former bandmate.
Mendoza said he first heard McKenna play with a band called the American Ice Cream Revolution.
Toby Beau was the name of one of the last original wooden shrimp boats docked in Port Isabel.
