The date of the last average frost is nearly here, and that means plants will be able to be set into the ground.
Select and plant bedding plants that are short and stocky, rather than tall and leggy. Typically the last frost is about May 10 along the Front Range; add one day for each 100-foot-gain in altitude above 5,300 feet for other areas.
Protect bedding plants from wind and afternoon sun for a week after planting.
Lightly fertilize raspberries with a lawn fertilizer (without a weed killer), or manure tea.
Mow bluegrass, ryegrass, fescue and wheatgrass to a height of 2 1/2 to 3 inches. Buffalo grass and blue grama lawns can be mowed to this height but also do well unmowed.
