U.S. Bank said Monday that Mark Smith, its market president overseeing Denver, will step down in mid-June.

“I have enjoyed working in the banking arena for the past 30 years, especially with the U.S. Bank team the past few years,” Smith said in a statement. “However, the time is now right for me to increase my time with family and embark on other opportunities.”

U.S. Bank recruited Smith in early 2003 from Union Bank of California in Sacramento to replace Daniel Yohannes.

U.S. Bank has 78 branches and more than 1,800 employees in metro Denver, making it the city’s second-largest bank after Wells Fargo.
