A 9-year-old boy died Sunday after his father found him in the family’s backyard hot tub in Greenwood Village, 9News reported.
The 9-year-old lived with his dad and stepmom. His name is not being released.
Greenwood Village police said the father found the boy in the water but wouldn’t say where the father had been, other than to say he was nearby.
When emergency personnel arrived at the home, the boy was unconscious. He was pronounced dead at Swedish Medical Center.
Police believe the boy had some sort of medical condition but don’t know whether that contributed to the incident. An autopsy will determine the cause of death.
“We’re investigating this as unattended death as we do in all circumstances of this nature,” Sgt. Tracy Thompson of the Greenwood Village Police Department told 9News.
