Fort Collins police are investigating the recurring distribution of sexually explicit photographs.

Victims receive packets of photographs with their own faces, apparently taken from facebook.com, CU athletic department websites, and other popular student websites. The faces have been superimposed over sexually graphic material.

The first photos were reported in September, 2005. They were delivered directly to the victims by mail, at their homes, or left on their cars.

Many of the victims are student athletes at the University of Colorado.

Detectives believe that the suspect or suspects are skilled at computer publishing software programs such as Adobe Photoshop.

More than 100 different altered photos were sent to one woman in Fort Collins and four women in Boulder. An additional 10 women have been identified by detectives.

Investigators are concerned about the personalized and repeated nature of the incidents. Written messages accompany the packages, so police believe that felony stalking charges could be brought in the case.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigations has developed a DNA profile match in two of the cases.

Fort Collins police are asking anyone with information to contact Det. Kevin Cronin at (970) 221-6529.
