Thunderwolves win in RMAC baseball

Mike Martinez and Kevin Meadows hit home runs to help No. 3 seed CSU-Pueblo to an 8-7 win over No. 2 Fort Hays (Kan.) State and keep the Thunderwolves undefeated at the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament in Grand Junction.

Mesa State beat Metro State 7-3 in Thursday’s night game, eliminating the Roadrunners and keeping the Mavericks unbeaten in the tournament. Eric Maberry went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs for Mesa State.

CSU sweeps heptathlon, decathlon at MWC

Colorado State swept the heptathlon and decathlon at the Mountain West Conference outdoor track and field championships in Provo, Utah. Katie Lloyd and Kevin Johnson qualified provisionally for the NCAA championships with their wins, as did teammate Emily Pearson, who finished fourth.

DU women’s golf 19th at NCAA regional

The University of Denver women’s golf team is in 19th place after the first round of the NCAA West Regional at Washington National Golf Club in Auburn, Wash.

DU’s 35-over-par 323 has the Pioneers 35 strokes behind co-leaders Washington and UCLA, who shot even-par 288s. Colorado State’s Chelsea Benton, competing as an individual, shot a 5-over 77 and is in a tie for 45th. DU’s best round came from Emily Hoeper, who shot a 78 and is tied for 55th.
