Help your garden grow better:

To prevent damaging your annual plants when covering the bed with mulch, place mulch down first and then form holes in the mulch for planting. This prevents them from being buried or stepped on.

Test seeds to see if they are viable by placing a few on a wet paper towel. Place the paper towel inside a zipper-type bag, blow a little air inside and seal it shut. Place it in a dark location and check occasionally.

Recycle paper from your shredder and use it as quick composting mulch. After spreading, cover it with heavier mulch so it doesn’t fly away.
