A dozen unionized Avaya workers walked an “informational picket” this morning in front of the company’s campus in Highlands Ranch off C-470 and Lucent Boulevard.
About 700 workers represented by the Communications Workers of America Local 7777 at that facility, and others in the metro area, are working under a contract that expires at midnight Saturday, May 27.
“They’re outsourcing all our jobs overseas,” claimed Dawn Barraco, a union organizer who said she has worked for Avaya and its predecessors, Lucent Technologies and AT&T, for more than 25 years.
“If provoked, we will strike,” said Barraco. “The strategy is to get a contract.”
