Washington – The Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association has filed a protest challenging contract awards for a new benefits program that will provide enhanced dental and vision benefits to government employees, retirees and their families.
Blue Cross’ Federal Employee Program sought contracts for dental and vision benefits but was selected only to provide vision-care services. A Blue Cross spokeswoman said she could not discuss the bid protest, except to say that the company wanted to know how contract decisions were made.
Enrollment for the new dental and vision program is set to begin Nov. 13, when federal employees and retirees start to choose their medical insurance.
