Evan Anundsen, a senior who led Columbine to last weekend’s Class 5A baseball state championship, has been named Colorado’s Gatorade player of the year.

A pitcher-outfielder, the 6-foot-4 right-hander had a 10-2 record on the mound in leading the Rebels to a 19-7 mark as well as the Jefferson County League title.

With nine home runs, Anundsen, who batted in the meat of the Rebels’ order, also hit safely in all seven postseason games.

He has signed to play next season at Wichita State.
