Littleton attorney Doug Tumminello reached the summit of Mount Everest on Monday via the South Col route with a Sherpa, according to the team’s website (www.nolimitsclimbing.com).

Tumminello, a West Point graduate who served in the Army as an infantry officer, has led expeditions to the tallest peaks in North America (Denali, or Mount McKinley) and South America (Aconcagua). He practices corporate litigation for Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons LLP.

Two Sherpas on the team were killed April 21 by two ice séracs that collapsed in the notoriously dangerous Khumbu Icefall. Two more were seriously injured.

The team has set up a memorial fund for the Sherpas. To contribute, call Lanny Anderson at the law firm at 303-623-9000.

Another team member, Steamboat Springs teacher Matt Tredway, abandoned his attempt this month and returned home.
