Bagpipes: The final free spring bagpiper performance will be at noon at the historic Tower of Memories at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge.
Cemetery: VFW Post No. 2461 will be placing 1500 flags at Veterans’ graves at 9 a.m. in the Military Area in Fairmount Cemetery, 430 S. Quebec St. The public is invited.
Memorial wall: The Colorado Freedom Memorial Foundation will be at the future site of the Colorado Freedom Memorial from Friday morning through the weekend. The wall will be guarded all weekend by active duty military members and service club members from across Colorado. To volunteer to serve a shift as a guard at the wall, call 303-248-3990. Parade: The City and County of Denver Memorial Day Parade features color guards, floats, bands, marching units, drill teams, living history, vintage and military vehicles. There will be free coffee, pastries, and displays in the park at Broadway and Colfax across from the review stand before the parade. The parade will start at 10 a.m. at 14th and Court streets, go north to 15th Street, west to Champa Street, north to 17th Street, south on Broadway to Colfax Avenue. Ceremony: Following the parade at 11:30 a.m., there will be a program, “Honoring Sacrifice with Holiday Patriotism,” at the Colorado Veterans Monument, just west of the State Capitol at Broadway and Colfax Avenue. Participating in the program are color guard, Colorado Irish Pipe Band, US Air Force Academy Sabre Drill Team, Rocky Mountain Children’s Choir and special guests, with an annual tribute to Colorado’s fallen. Concert: The Denver Municipal Band will give a free concert with patriotic tunes at 2 p.m. at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge.
Cemetery: Volunteers interested in participating in placing flags at Fort Logan National Cemetery can meet at 8 a.m. at the main office in Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd.
Tour: A history walking tour will be at 3 p.m. at the Gate Lodge in Fairmount Cemetery, 430 S. Quebec St.
Concert: The 55-piece Denver Concert Band presents an evening of marches, pop music and sounds of the 40’s and 50’s at a free concert at 5 p.m. at Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, 5400 S. Yosemite St., Greenwood Village.

Cemetery: Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge, is having a day of personal remembrances Sunday May 28. Visitors will receive a flower seed packet. Free flags will also be provided.
EVENTS MONDAY
Ceremony: The 10th Mountain Division of World War II will have a ceremony at 11 a.m. at Tennessee Pass on U.S. 24 between Leadville and Minturn. The Guest of Honor will be Col. Michael Kershaw, commander of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division (LI), Fort Drum, New York. The Lake County High School Band will provide music.
Ceremony: The annual ceremony honoring Japanese-American World War II Veterans, conducted by American Legion Nisei Post No. 185, will be at 11 a.m. on Block 35 in Fairmount Cemetery, 430 S. Quebec St.
Parade: Commerce City’s 42nd annual Memorial Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. at East 64th Avenue and Newport Street, travel west on 64th to Holly Street, move south on Holly to 62nd Avenue and will continue west on 62nd Avenue to Parkway Drive. The parade will be about two to three hours long. This year’s Grand Marshals will be William Barnard and Lou Jarramillo. The wreath-laying ceremony will be in front of the Veterans Memorial. Picnic: A community picnic will be from 4 to 7 p.m. in front of the Fairmount Mausoleum in Fairmount Cemetery, 430 S. Quebec St. Take a picnic and lawnchairs or blankets. The Hot Tomatoes Dance Orchestra will perform at 4 p.m. at the steps of Fairmount’s Mausoleum. The Queen City Jazz Band will perform at 6 p.m. In case of rain, concerts will be moved indoors.
Cemetery: Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 Sheridan Blvd., is having a service at 11 a.m. May 29 at the flagpole. The program will include music by the Littleton Community band, a traditional wreath laying and a Memorial Day address followed by a release of white doves. Scheduled speakers include Senator Ken Salazar (D-Colo.) and Col. David Ziegler, 460th Space Wing Commander. A fly-over will be provided by Buckley Air Force Base. In case of inclement weather, services will be moved to the VFW Post 9644 at 2680 West Hampden Ave.
Ceremony: The Marine Corps Memorial Association is having a ceremony at 2 p.m. at the Marine Corps Memorial at the intersection of Highways 6 and 40 in Golden. The keynote speaker will be Colorado State Treasurer Mike Coffman, who served in the Army and is a retired Major of the US Marine Corps.
Cemetery: Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Wheat Ridge, is having a Memorial Day Tribute program at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery, at 11 a.m. Monday May 29. The Centennial State Pipes and Drums will perform and the program will conclude with a dove release.
