BERRY GOOD NEWS| Blueberries pack 13,427 disease- fighting antioxidants per serving and 162 per calorie, according to a USDA report quoted in the June issue of Men’s Health. The other fruits in the top 10 are cranberries, blackberries, raspberries, strawberries, apples, cherries, black plums, avocados and pears.
MORE REASONS NOT TO SMOKE| Researchers at the Colorado School of Mines discovered three new chemicals in cigarette smoke that come from pesticides often used in tobacco farming, reports the American Lung Association of Colorado. The study, published in the online journal Analytical Chemistry, cited Flumetralin, already banned in Europe, as a chemical that may affect the human endocrine system, and two other compounds that affect the thyroid, reproductive and metabolic systems.
