University of Denver golfer James Love shot a 1-under- par 71 and was tied for 28th after the first of four rounds at the NCAA championship tournament in Sunriver, Ore.

Wake Forest’s Kyle Reifers led the field after an opening 7-under 65. Oklahoma State’s Pablo Martin and Southern California’s Taylor Wood each shot a 66.

CU’s McGlasson repeats as all-region golfer

University of Colorado senior and team captain Edward McGlasson was named to the all-Central Region team, the second straight season he has been recognized as one of the best golfers among the 24 schools in the region.

McGlasson finished the season with a team-best 72.42 stroke average, the third-best figure in CU history.

CSU extends national reign in club baseball

The Colorado State club baseball team won its third consecutive national title Tuesday, beating Penn State 3-2 in Niles, Ohio, for the the National Club Baseball Association championship. CSU pitcher Thomas Ahrens was named MVP of the eight-team tournament.

Strickland-Vickers team paces Coe golfers

Jim Strickland and Warren Vickers shot a first-round 66 on Wednesday to lead the 17th Charlie Coe Invitational, a two-player scratch better ball amateur tournament at Castle Pines Golf Club. Trent Brown and Chris Kessler combined for a 67, followed by Everett Dobson and Tripp Davis at 68. Among the three teams tied at 69 are John Elway and Eddie Lyons.

Jim Hays and Steve Dallas combined for a 66 to lead the tournament’s senior division.
