Jon Voight is talking reconciliation with his daughter, new mom Angelina Jolie: “I hope that one day soon I’ll be saying hello to them.”
The actor’s long-estranged daughter apparently still refuses to speak to him, the New York Daily News reports.
So the 67-year-old Oscar winner has launched a public lobbying campaign to be allowed to see his new granddaughter, Shiloh.
“The birth of this child is very exciting,” Voight told Steppin’ Out magazine. “I’m very, very happy for both of them. My love is with them always.”
Voight declined to discuss his damaged relationship with Jolie. He reached out to his 30-year-old daughter just two days after she delivered the 7-pound girl by Caesarean section in Namibia.
Michelle Rodriguez was released from jail early, after serving less than a day of a 60-day jail sentence, authorities in Los Angeles said Tuesday.
The former star of “Lost” was sentenced for violating probation terms after her drunken-driving arrest in Hawaii. She was released Thursday from a Los Angeles County jail due to overcrowding, authorities said.
Rodriguez still must serve 30 days of community service and remain on probation until June 2009, a spokeswoman for the city attorney’s office said.
“Our prosecutors are not happy about it, but that is the sad reality of our overcrowded jails,” said spokeswoman Contessa Mankiewicz.
The 27-year-old actress served five days in jail in Hawaii in April after pleading guilty to drunken driving. The Dec. 1 arrest in Honolulu violated the three-year probation term she was given in Los Angeles County in 2004 after pleading no contest to charges of hit-and-run, driving on a suspended license and drunken driving.
Rodriguez’s “Lost” character, Ana Lucia, was killed off in an episode broadcast in early May. The show’s producers have said the plot twist had nothing to do with her arrests.
Those rumors about an onscreen reunion of Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong? Reefer madness, Marin says.
The 59-year-old actor – half of the Cheech & Chong comedy duo that embodied 1970s and 1980s marijuana humor – said there will be no future joint efforts with Chong.
“We’ve tried to do it a bunch of times, and we always end up at the same place,” Marin said in Concord, N.C., during a recent press tour to promote the animated film “Cars,” set for release June 9. “All the old animosities resurface.” In “Cars,” Marin voices Ramon, a vintage low-rider.
“I’m real comfortable leaving Cheech & Chong right where it is,” Marin said. “I was a big Laurel & Hardy fan when I was a kid. I used to watch them on TV all the time and then one time I saw a Laurel & Hardy film they made when they were a lot older and it creeped me out. I just never wanted to do that.”
Britney Spears suspects that hubby Kevin Federline is responsible for some of the leaks to the tabloids about the couple’s private lives. “Britney knows Kevin tells his friends information, knowing they will leak it to tabloids,” a source close to Spears told Us magazine. She has taken to not telling her hubby certain things – including that she was going to announce her pregnancy on David Letterman – for fear the info would be leaked to his buddies. “They sell stories for money. … She is sick of him using her for them to profit.”
Former British glam rocker Gary Glitter’s appeal of a three-year sentence for child molestation in Vietnam will be heard June 15, authorities announced.
Glitter, 62, whose real name is Paul Francis Gadd, was convicted and sentenced to three years in prison March 3 for committing obscene acts with girls ages 10 and 11 at his rented seaside villa and at a hotel.
