Monaco prince admits Calif. girl, 14, is his child

Palm Desert, Calif. – After years of speculation, Prince Albert II of Monaco has admitted he is the father of a 14-year-old girl from Palm Desert, his second child born out of wedlock, according to an interview given to a French newspaper by Albert’s attorney.

Albert, the reigning prince of Monaco since his father, Prince Rainier III, died in April 2005, wanted to keep the matter private until his daughter became an adult, but a crush of recent coverage in Europe made that impossible, lawyer Thierry Lacoste told Le Figaro in an article published Thursday. Albert “officially recognizes a paternity that was legally established a few weeks ago,” Lacoste said.

In a lawsuit filed in Riverside County Superior Court in 1992, Tamara Rotolo claimed her daughter, Jazmin Grace Grimaldi, is Albert’s child. The case, however, was dismissed on jurisdictional grounds.

French media reports said Albert had a brief affair with the girl’s mother in 1991, when she vacationed on the Cote d’Azur.

The son of late actress Grace Kelly, the prince, 48, is single. Last year, he admitted fathering a son with a flight attendant from Togo.
