Marines to cheer on runners at half marathon
The inaugural Rocky Mountain Half Marathon got generally good reviews last year but runners said a steep hill on mile 7 caught them by surprise.
The hill near Invesco Field at 20th Avenue and Bryant Street won’t be any easier to run this year, but it might be easier to take. It has been designated Marines Hill, and about 20 Marines will be there to encourage runners in Sunday’s race. The half marathon will begin at 7:30 a.m. A women’s only 8-kilometer race will begin at 7:45 a.m. The races start and finish at Riverfront Park, at 15th Street and Little Raven Street near the Platte River.
