San Diego’s Hannah Jun shared the top of the leaderboard at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship at Walking Stick Golf Course in Pueblo after the 20-year-old posted a 1-under-par 71 on Wednesday for a two-round total of 7-under 137.
Jun, who plays at UCLA, was tied with Mina Harigae, 16, of Monterey, Calif. They led Tiffany Joh, 19, by one shot. Thunderstorms kept 14 golfers from finishing the second round. The top 64 players after two rounds of stroke play will then begin match play today.
Wyoming AD Barta interested in Iowa job
Wyoming athletic director Gary Barta said family considerations are the main reason he is seeking the AD job at Iowa.
“We love Wyoming, but Iowa is about an hour from my wife’s home and about 3 1/2 hours from my home,” Barta told the Star-Tribune of Casper.
He said he owed it to his family to consider the Iowa job.
Kevin McKinney, Wyoming’s associate athletic director for media relations, said Tuesday that Barta had been contacted by the Hawkeyes. Barta was hired at Wyoming in 2003 and his current contract runs through 2008.
