RTD to host meetings on light-rail design

RTD will host public meetings Tuesday and Wednesday to consider design changes proposed for the west light-rail line that will run from central Denver to Golden.

The most significant change would reroute tracks to the south side of U.S. 6 between Simms Street and Red Rocks Community College from the north side of the highway.

The Regional Transportation District estimates it will save $22 million by shifting the tracks. The west line is scheduled for completion in 2013.

Tuesday’s meeting will be at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, Exhibit Halls 1-3, 15200 W. Sixth Ave. in Golden, from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday’s meeting will be in the main hall of St. Cajetan’s Center on the Auraria Higher Education Center campus, 1190 Ninth St. in Denver, also from 6 to 8 p.m.
