Jo Ann Leonard, a 40-year- old Johnstown woman, died in a Weld County crash Wednesday that injured 10 other people.
Leonard was in the back center seat of a Plymouth minivan that was struck by a Toyota Camry about 2:15 p.m.
Upon impact, the Camry and the minivan slid into the front end of a gasoline tanker truck that was stopped on northbound County Road 19 waiting to turn left onto County Road 24.
The driver of the Camry, Prem Shrestha, 33, of Longmont ran the stop sign at eastbound County Road 19 or failed to yield before going past the sign, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
Authorities are still trying to determine whether seat belts or child-restraint seats were used. They are also looking into whether alcohol, drugs or speed were factors.
Jay Eachus of Brighton, the 46-year-old driver of the gasoline tanker, was not injured.
Passengers in the Camry, all from Boulder, were Udaya Bista, 34; Anjila Bista, 8; Aliza Bista, 4; Lasata Shrestha, 4; and Jagadish Panday, 37. They were sent home from the hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the minivan, 78-year-old Bartholemew Alvarado of Northglenn, was taken to Northern Colorado Medical Center in Greeley with moderate injuries.
Makanzie Leonard, 14, of Johnstown had minor injuries. Mattie Alvarado, 75, of Northglenn had serious injuries and was taken to Denver Health Medical Center. Stephanie Leonard, 16, of Johnstown was recovering at Northern Colorado Medical Center from serious injuries.
