Some evening fireworks shows could be deluged by heavy thunderstorms and others may not be affected at all, a state meteorologist says.

“It is going to affect some of the fireworks,” said Frank Benton, a state weather service specialist in Boulder.

Some parts of the Denver metro area could get clobbered and others will only get light rain or no rain at all, he said.

9News predicted rain and thundershowers will continue well into the late evening, recommending rain gear for anyone headed out to see a display.

Tonight will be mostly cloudy with lingering light showers and lows in the upper 50s.
