PRB Energy Inc. of Denver announced Wednesday the acquisition of about 630 coal- bed methane wells on 29,500 acres in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin from Pennaco Energy Inc. Of the 630 wells, fewer than 200 are producing at a rate of 2.5 million to 3 million cubic feet per day. PRB plans to bring the shut-in wells back to production.

Qwest last week signed a five-year, multimillion-dollar deal with U.S. Bancorp for QWave, an optical wavelength private-line product that transmits data at speeds up to 10 gigabits per second.

Audubon Colorado announced Wednesday its designation of the reservoirs at Xcel Energy’s Valmont Generating Station in Boulder County as an Important Bird Area. The designation is based on the use of the site by large concentrations of numerous species of waterfowl.
