A Gorge adventure
In partnership with the historic Royal Gorge Route Railroad, Arkansas River Tours and Echo Canyon rafting companies offer adventures combining a scenic train ride through the Royal Gorge with a half-day of rafting. After a trip through Class III and IV rapids and a riverside lunch, board the Royal Gorge Route train for a 12-mile ride through the gorge along the Arkansas River. Mountainboard meet
U.S. Open Mountainboarding Championships will be Thursday through Saturday on Fanny Hill in Snowmass. Featuring world champion riders such as Jason Lee, the championships hold gravity-defying competitions such as Dirt Boardercross, Slopestyle Big Air, and new timed Downhill competitions. An expo, demonstrations, and the U.S. Open Mountainboard Camp with the pros round out the event. The Snowmass Skatejam will be July 22. The Skatejam highlights pros and amateurs launching off a 16-foot jump as well as a competition open to all levels and ages. Courage Classic
The Courage Classic is a long-standing tradition at Copper Mountain. In its 17th year, the three-day bicycle event July 21-24 benefits The Children’s Hospital. Cyclists travel more than 150 miles of Colorado’s most scenic byways and quiet backcountry roads, visiting Leadville, Vail and most of Summit County before ending each day’s ride.
