Two-time finalist Rick DeWitt of West Woods Golf Course in Arvada outlasted Luke Symons of Aurora’s Valley Country Club over 24 holes to advance to the quarterfinals of the 106th Colorado Golf Association Match Play Championship at Plum Creek Golf and Country Club in Castle Rock on Wednesday.
DeWitt lost to Brandt Jobe in the 1988 final and fell to Mark Crabtree in 1994. DeWitt will face Aaron Weston of Meridian Golf Club, a 3 and 2 winner over Caleb Lierman of Murphy Creek Golf Course, in the quarterfinals.
Others advancing included University of Colorado player Ryan Anderson, former CU player Kenny Coakley (a 2001 finalist) and Colorado State’s Zen Brown.
